Last Update: 01/10/2008 17:01:07 A team from 323 (Epsom & Ewell) Squadron Air Training Corps made a real splash at the recent Surrey Wing Swimming Gala, beating off the competition of other Squadrons from across Surrey and South London to win the overall trophy. Their charge to victory was led by Cadet Fenwick who won three gold medals in the junior boys category swimming in the Butterfly, breaststroke and Individual Medley races. However, they did not have it all their own way, with 285 (Coulsdon & Purley) Squadron putting up a determined fight for second place coming top in both the senior girls and senior boys categories. 285 Squadron even went one better having two cadets winning three gold medals; Cadet Kilvington (Senior Boys Butterfly, backstroke and individual medley) and Corporal Litchfield (Senior Girls Freestyle, butterfly and individual medley). The gala was also treated to another individual three gold medal haul by Cadet Rosling of 1349 (Woking) Squadron. She had her commanding officer jumping for joy by winning the Junior Girls Backstroke, Breaststroke and Individual Medley. The Surrey Wing team, selected from the winners and runners-up of the races at this gala, will now swim against the other Wings in London & South East Region in an effort to retain the Regional swimming championship trophy for a third time.
