How you can join
The Air Cadets as an instructor?
Whilst cadets learn something new every time they go out with the cadets, the majority of formal training is carried out at the Squadron HQ.
This formal training is carried out in line with the Air Cadet syllabus of training so you can see a real value in your input.
As an adult you would normally join as a Civilian Instructor and help with the implementation and delivery of the training syllabus. However, just as important as this are the other things you bring, such as enthusiasm, willingness to get involved and an ability to mix well with teenagers. Whatever your experience we will provide additional training to assist you. Not all training is theory based, practical skills are equally highly regarded.
No previous military service
is required and if you want to progress further it is usually possible to move
into uniformed service as an Adult Warrant Officer, or even go for a commission
in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Training Branch. If you have already
served in Her Majesty's Forces you may qualify for direct entry in either role.
As a voluntary
organisation we look to the local community for support in many ways and you
could also help by joining the Civilian Welfare Committee.
The financial
rewards for adult service are few and far between, but the real payback is
seeing the cadets progress and enjoy themselves.
